In 2006, as a result of the great economic crisis the state, a large number of people lost their jobs. Many of these were manufacturing jobs and much of this population lacked computer skills. Understanding the increased need for computer training, Hispanic Technology and Education Programs opened its doors in 2007 with the goal of helping adults find better job opportunities through the use of technology as a job searching tool.
In 2011, the owners restructured the school and change its name to HITEP, Inc. the company became licensed as a full training facility with the Rhode Island Department of Healt to train Certified Nursing ssistants (CNA), and is now the second largest provider of adult education services for various Rhode Island states agencies. As the company continues to grow, we recently openend a new location in Pawtucket to be able to launch our newest program: Training for employment & Retention.
Today HITEP Inc. serves a diverse student body and provides training programs in the following areas:
*health care: Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)
*Training for Employment & Retention (includes Basic Computer Skills)
